Plant Care Websites?

Anyone know of any good plant care websites?

I'm sick of going through them all only to find they're useless.

I have a passion flower vine that hasn't flowered yet and the soil on top is always a lighter color than the rest.

I also have some kind of tropical plant that appears to be attracting little flies.

I have a jasmine vine as well and most of it suddenly died but I was able to salvage a part of it and that part is growing but it hasn't flowered yet (same with the passion flower one).

I last but not least I have a moonflower vine (haha can you tell I like vines?) I've been growing them from seeds but I missed a watering - watered it right away - but now half the plant is super limp.

So yeah, I need a good resource for plant care.

I like the Garden Web. It is a forum type of site but you can go into different sections for the plants and ask questions. The people are very helpful.



I don't know if they still do, but they used to allow people to post a trade/wants list.

Reply:you might want to re pot the plants in new pots or at least different one . with good potting soil with fertilizer added for flowering . there is three number somewhere on each bag the first is nitrogen , it produces growth , the sec. is phosphate it produces strong roots , the third is potash , it produces flowering and fruit . the flies you are seeing feed off of the roots and top soil , so they are infected, with black flies a small gnat. they lay there eggs in the soil and the larvae fed off the roots and such , put out side if possible when you re pot and than watch your watering the gnats need moisture to breed , water from bottom and that will end any new infections good luck
Reply:When I'm in need of my greenery help, I check out "Jerry Baker." I have Jerry Baker's book on problem solvers, which I highly recommend, as HE USES NO CHEMICALS! It's simple things to stimulate your plant's life. Using salt, beer, baking soda, vinegar, Coca Cola, lemon juice, toothpaste, and many more household ingredients, and they work! I much rather make up my own recipes following his advice and expertise, which I know are not harmful to the environment and will help keep my plants alive and thriving, then to buy harsh chemical products that I know are nothing more than poison seeping into our soil and water for all to consume. Check out his web. It's a great resource center for all your greenery needs.
